Passenger of fatal motorcycle crash in Stearns County dies at St. Cloud hospital, state patrol says; names of the victims released

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – The passenger of a fatal motorcycle crash occurring in Stearns County on Sunday has passed away after being transported to a hospital in St. Cloud following the crash.

According to the state patrol, on May 21, a 2004 Buick La Sabre, driven by 60-year-old Thomas Leonard Groby, of Long Prairie, was travelling westbound on Highway 55 when it collided with an eastbound 2014 Harley Davidson Touring bike in Paynesville Township.

The motorcycle was driven by 53-year-old William James Clough and riding as the passenger was 49-year-old Melissa Anne Clough, both of Mora, Minnesota.

William Clough was pronounced dead at the scene and Melissa Clough was transported to a St. Cloud Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The Minnesota State Patrol also reported it is unknown if either of the Clough’s were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
