Motorcyclist killed in crash with vehicle in Stearns County on Sunday

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – A motorcyclist was killed and the condition of their passenger is unknown following a crash with another vehicle near mile marker 107 on Highway 55 in Stearns County on Sunday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on May 21 at 1:28 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries on Highway 55 in Paynesville Township.

Preliminary reports indicate a 2004 Buick La Sabre, driven by 60-year-old Thomas Leonard Groby, of Long Prairie, was travelling westbound on Highway 55 when it collided with an eastbound 2014 Harley Davidson Touring bike.

The motorcycle was driven by a 53-year-old Mora man and 49-year-old Mora woman was listed as the passenger.

LifeLink emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

The driver of the La Sabre suffered no injuries during the incident and alcohol is not believed to have played a factor in the crash.

The names of the motorcyclists are expected to be released on Monday at noon.
