STILLWATER, MINN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes girls track and field team finished in fourth place at the True Team State Meet in Stillwater on Saturday.
The Lakers scored 469 points for a fourth-place finish, two points behind Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball’s 471. DL led EVWK by 22 points heading into the final race of the evening, which was the 4×400. EVWK won the race for 36 points in the standings. The Lakes took 9th place for 12 points.
Rylee Johnson had a great day for the Lakers, finishing second in the high jump (5-00) and third in the 100m hurdles. Johnson’s time of 15.14 in the 100m hurdles broke the Detroit Lakes school set in 2010.

Abby Larson finished second in the 100m dash (12.55) and fifth in the 200m dash (26.59), Elle Bettcher (111-04) and Jacee Hauser (104-03) each had podium finishes in the discus with Bettcher placing fourth and Hauser finishing eighth. Hauser also fourth in the shot put (36-01.25). Jerzie Horner placed third in the pole vault (10-03), and Grace Gunderson placed fifth in the high jump (4-10).
Ella Paulson was eighth in the 100m (12.98) and 14th in the 200m (27.55), Mallory Fischer was ninth in the 300m hurdles (50.49), Hannah Barberg was ninth in the 800m (2:29.37), Brenna Skadsem was ninth in the shot put (33-04.25), and Julia Steffl finished 11th in the 1600m run (5:39.17) and 12th in the 3200m (12:36.09).
Alonna Moench was 11th in the pole vault (9-00), Natalie Spindler was 12th in the triple jump (32-02.25), Lila Kallstrom finished 13th in the 400m (1:04.13), Marin Johnson was 14th in the 800m (2:35.35), Maddie Blahut was 19th in the 100m hurdles (18.89) and 22nd in the 300m hurdles (55.01), Haydon King (15-02.25) and Mamie Hunter (15-00.75) finished 14th and 16th in the long jump, Natalie Mohr was 17th in the 3200m (13:04.73), Lily Anderson was 18th in the triple jump (30-04)Amaya LeCleir was 19th in the 1600m (5:55.96), and Sadie Johnson was 22nd in the 400m (1:08.28).
The 4×100 relay team finished in fourth place (50.30), the 4×200 finished eighth (1:50.21), the 4×400 finished ninth (4:20.28), and the 4×800 placed sixth (10:26.25).
The Lakers will be in Bemidji on Tuesday for their final regular season meet of the season before hosting the 8AA Individual Track and Field Meet at Mollberg Field on Saturday, June 3rd.
