STILLWATER, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Lakers boys track and field team took ninth place at the Class AA State True Team Meet in Stillwater on Saturday.
The Lakers had a very strong showing from their throwers on Saturday, with Lawson Greene placing second in the discus (152-01), and Mason Carrier (50-03) and Isaac Cariveau (48-07.25) placing fourth and sixth in the shot put. Braydon Sjoblom finished 12th in discus with a throw of 123-02 feet.
In the high jump, Evan Thomas (6-00) finished fifth and Jake Pavek (5-10), finished eighth. Brandton Marsh finished third in the long jump (20-00.50) and seventh in the triple jump (40-03.00). Ethan Carrier placed 17th in the long jump (17-05.50), and Bryant Kulzer was 22nd in the triple jump (37-01.50).
In the pole vault, Coye Braten finished in 17th place (10-00), and Glenn Simons was 22nd (8-00).
In the track portion of the competition, the Carrier brothers had top-six finishes in the 100m with Ethan taking second place (11.02) and Mason finishing in sixth place (11.24).

Ethan also finished third in the 200m with a time of 22.51.
Evan Thomas took third in the 400m (52.21),
Brady Wirtz took 11th in the 110m hurdles (16.76) with Lawson Greene placing 16th (17.47). Brandonton Marsh (44.12) and Noah Larson (51.04) took 12th and 24th place in the 300m hurdles.
Tyler Ostlie took 22nd in the 200m (24.97), Tyler Bye was 23rd in the 400m (57.10),
In the distance races, Connor Jensen took 9th in the 800m (2:06.00) with Ryan Erickson (2:12.98) taking 20th. In the 1600m race, Micah Barberg (5:10.70) and Brayden Francis (5:10.71) finished with one-hundredth of a second of each other for 19th and 20th place finishes. Barberg also took 21st in the 3200m (11:41.81) and Hunter Zehnacker took 23rd (12:07.35).
In the relays, the 4×100 team was DQ’d due to a bad exchange on the first leg of the race. The 4×200 team took ninth (1:35.58), the 4×400 team was 10th (3:45.71), and the 4×800 team was eighth (8:46.93).
The Lakers will be in Bemidji on Tuesday for their final regular season meet of the season before hosting the 8AA Individual Track and Field Meet at Mollberg Field on Saturday, June 3rd.
