Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes Public Utilities received a national award for their safety practices for the American Public Power Association.
The 2022 safety award honors public utility companies with incident-free records based on the number of hours worked, as well as, complying with all state safety programs and implementing a positive safety culture,
Jim Boyd, chair of the American Public Power Association Safety Committee, said: “Safety needs to be the first thing on every utility employee’s mind as they go about their work. The utilities honored by the APPA for excellence in this area should be proud of the culture they have instilled in serving their communities.
Detroit Lakes Public Utilities placed first in the category for utilities with 60,000 to 109,999 hours of annual worker exposure.
