LAKE ELMO, MINN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes Boys Golf tied for 11th place at the two-day, 22-team Battle of the Border Meet in Lake Elmo on Thursday. The meet featured some of the top Class AAA teams in the state, including White Bear Lake, Alexandria, Maple Grove, and reigning State champion Edina.
The Lakers shot a 321/314 over the two days and climbed from 14th place after Day One to their 11th place finish.
Senior Logan Schons led the Lakers with a 79/75 to finish at 154 for the tournament, which put him in 35th place overall. Sophomore Tyler Stensgard shot a 78/83/161, junior Nick Tobkin carded an 82/80/162, and freshman Lawson Justesen shot 83/81/164 to finish as the top-four scorers for the Lakers. Freshman Carter Whitworth shot an 84/81/165, and senior Ben Hines shot an 82/86/168.
Maple Grove junior Ryan Stendahl was the two-day medalist with a 72/67/139, which was good for five under par for the tournament.
Detroit Lakes is back in action Friday, hosting Fargo Davies for a dual meet at Headwaters Golf Course.
