Laker Girls Golf Wins in Pequot Lakes; Syltie Takes Medalist Honors

PEQUOT LAKES, MINN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Laker girls golf team won their second meet of the week, taking first place at the Pequot Invite 2.0 on Friday afternoon.

The Lakers placed all six golfers in the top eight at Crosswoods Golf Course, led by junior Laura Syltie’s four-over 75. Syltie won medalist honors, edging out Pequot Lakes senior Morgan Krieger by one stroke.

Hanna Knoop finished in third place overall, three strokes behind Syltie. Sydney Miller, Sophie Christianson, and Tatum Gatheridge tied for third with 82s, and Jaycie Sliper placed eighth with an 85.

The next meet on the Laker schedule is next Friday in Minnewaska with an 11 am shotgun start.
