Park Rapids, Minn (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes Track and Field traveled to Park Rapids for the Heartland Invite on Tuesday and came away with a first-place finish for the girls, and a first-place tie for the boys.
The invite was not laser-timed, but rather hand-timed which had major implications for athletes trying to qualify for this Friday’s Hamline Elite Meet in St. Paul.
“Because the meet was not Fully Automated Timing (FAT), we needed to add .24 (anything ran under 300m) or .14 (anything above 300m) to times,” girls head coach Maggy Doll said. “Even with the time adjustment, we still had lots of kids hit personal records. Tuesday was an open meet, so lots of kids got to try lots of different things.”
The only Laker to qualify for the Hamline meet this year is high jumper Grace Gunderson, who did not compete in the event in Park Rapids.
All times in this article have been adjusted to reflect the FAT Timing adjustment.
