DILWORTH, MINN (KDLM) – Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Elementary school was placed on lockdown on Tuesday morning as officers responded to a report of shots fired about nine blocks away from the school.
According to a press release from the Dilworth Police Department, law enforcement received calls around 10:45 am reporting shots fired in the immediate area of 208 5th Street South in Dilworth.
Witnesses stated that three or four shots were fired by a light-skinned black male between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. One of the callers said the man appeared to be shooting the gun at something he was using for target practice.
Officers arrived on the scene three minutes after the calls came in and found multiple shell casings in the parking lot, but were unable to find anyone matching the description.
Three apartment buildings in the vicinity were searched. The lockdown at the school was lifted a short time later.
It does not appear there was any altercation or continued danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
