Terri Hutchinson Named Florence Hutchinson Legacy Award Winner At Holy Rosary Spring Interlude

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Holy Rosary School of Detroit Lakes held its 21st annual Spring Interlude Diner on Friday night at The Barn in Dunvilla. The Spring Interlude is a fundraiser to support music and art programs at Holy Rosary.

One of the many highlights of the night was the presentation of the 10th Annual Florence Hutchinson Legacy Award to Terri Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was a music teacher at Holy Rosary for 21 years.

“What was unchanging over those years were teachers who taught students with love and passion,” Hutchinson said. “I am confident that the new faces are stepping up, teaching and guiding with love and compassion to help their students succeed.”

The Florence Hutchinson Legacy Award is given annually to acknowledge the commitment of another community member who follows Hutchinson’s tradition of cheerful service to Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the people it serves. Hutchinson served at the church from 1977-2008 and was awarded the inaugural award in 2013. Florence Hutchinson, who passed away in 2019, was Terri’s mother-in-law.

The school is still a little short of its Wish List goal, which includes funding for new desks and chairs for classrooms, a smartboard for the kindergarten and sixth-grade classrooms, a charter bus for next year’s middle school field trip, new instruments for the music room, and a new school camera.
