FARGO, ND (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Lakers competed inside for (hopefully) the final time this spring at the Bison Stampede Indoor Meet at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track on the campus of NDSU.
The Lakers were one of 27 teams that made the trip to Fargo and came away with multiple top-eight finishes.
The Laker girls placed third overall as a team, led by first-place finishes by Jerzie Horner in the pole vault (PR 10-03.00) and Grace Gunderson in the high jump (5-02.00). Abby Larson finished second in the 60m (8.14) and third in the 200m (26.99), Rylee Johnson finished second in the high jump (5-02.00) and fifth in the 60m hurdles (10.18), Jacee Hauser finished fourth in the shot put (34-09.00), and Lily Anderson was fifth in the triple jump (32-09.00). Maddie Blahut was eighth in the 60m hurdles (10.85), Julia Steffl was seventh in the 1600m (5:51.06), and Ella Paulson was seventh in the pole vault (7-09.00).
The girls 4x200m relay (Ella Paulson, Mallory Fischer, Lila Disse, Haydon King) finished fourth overall (1:54.41), and the 4x800m relay team (Hannah Barberg, Lila Kallstrom, Marin Johnson, Sadie Johnson) finished seventh (10:52.58).
The Laker Boys took 11th place overall at the meet. Brandon Marsh finished second in the long jump (20-04.25), Ethan Carrier was third in the 60m (7.16) and fifth in the 200m (PR 23.51), Brady Wirtz was seventh in the 60m hurdles (9.11), and Alexander Fletcher was eighth in the high jump (5-08.00). The boys 4×800 relay (Brayden Francis, Connor Jensen, Ryan Erickson, Xander Jessen) placed eighth overall (9:19.29).
The Lakers’ next meet will be outdoors in Fergus Falls on Thursday, April 20th.
