Detroit Lakes Wrestling Places Third At MidState Conference Meet; Five Lakers Earn All-Conference Honors

DETROIT LAKES, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes placed third in the MidState Conference meet last Friday, behind conference champion Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus and second-place Staples-Motley.

The Lakers were 2-3 overall in the tournament, losing to PL/PRB 48-32, Staples-Motley 42-28 and Aitkin 35-24. The Lakers would beat Park Rapids 48-36 and Crosby-Ironton 54-21.

Laker Wrestling also had four wrestlers named all-conference during the tournament: Tyson Ullyott, Cade Okeson, Cade Jackson, and Jeffery Moen. Leroy LaCrosse was named Honorable mention.

On Saturday, the Lakers placed fourth in the Thief River Falls Prower Invite. The Lakers had 10 place winners, and three Lakers won individual championships: Tyson Ullyott at 145, Cade Jackson at 182, and Jeffery Moen at 285.  Cade Okeson was 2nd at 152.

The Lakers are back in action at the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse on Friday, January 26th in a triangular against West Central Area and Crookston.
