PARK RAPIDS, MN (KDLM) – Less than a year after Pequot Lakes announced that it was leaving the MidState Conference, Park Rapids announced that it will also be leaving the MidState as soon as the 2024-25 season.
The Park Rapids school board voted in favor of applying to join the Heart O Lakes Conference at their December 19th meeting and could join the HOL.
The MidState Conference is currently compromised of Detroit Lakes, Aitkin, Pequot Lakes (leaving for the Granite Ridge Conference in the fall of 2023), Crosby-Ironton, Staples-Motley, and Park Rapids.
The Park Rapids Enterprise also reports that Staples-Motley, Detroit Lakes, and Fergus Falls could also apply for the Heart O Lakes Conference before the February 1st application deadline.
The Heart O Lakes Conference is currently made up of seven schools: Barnesville, Breckenridge, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Hawley, Frazee, Pelican Rapids, and Perham.
