ST. PAUL (KDLM) – Upstream Initiative, a Twin Cities based nonprofit has selected a Detroit Lakes resident as one of their 2023 Artist Fellows.
Erika Gilsdorf was selected as one of 13 artists from a variety of mediums who share a love for Minnesota’s natural places and care for them personally and through their work.
“I’m so excited and honored to be chosen for this fellowship. I’m eager to share what Minnesota means to me and hopefully inspire stewardship for our beautiful state.,” said Gilsdorf who is an award-winning, international video producer. Her most recent work has been a video series entitled, “What Fuels You: An Electric Road Trip” documenting her travels around the state and beyond in an electric vehicle.
The artists will embark on a nearly year-long relationship with each other and Upstream, finding inspiration in natural places that are important to them, then developing and creating art that is related to or represents their commitment to care for those places. Each Fellow will chronicle their work and share them with the Upstream community through video, blog posts or other creative media. Upstream will host a gallery and showing at the conclusion of the Fellowship.
