Respiratory Illnesses on the Rise in Lakes Area

Dec 27, 2022 | 12:00 PM

WADENA (KDLM) – Respiratory illnesses are on the rise throughout the Lakes Area.

Tri-County Health Care says they’re observing an increase in the positivity rate of respiratory illnesses across the state. High RSV and influenza positivity rates are placing a strain on healthcare systems. Currently, the local RSV and influenza positivity rate is at 35 percent. These statistics match what is seen at the state level.

The rise in respiratory illness is leading to a decrease in the number of available beds in the state. This lack of beds makes it exceedingly difficult to elevate the level of care in critical scenarios.

Medical staff is asking everyone to take reasonable precautions, stay home if you are sick and try not to interact with those experiencing cold-like symptoms.
