Lakes Area Cooperative and Community Coop to Merge

PERHAM (KDLM) – Lakes Area Cooperative (LAC) and Community Coop of Lake Park plan to merge.

The Lakes Area Cooperative board voted to approve a merger in November which will take effect Jan 1, 2023. The new company, Lakes Community Cooperative will go forward with a stronger balance sheet and a continued mission of excellent customer service according a press release.

“Together the patrons, board of directors and employees have built two strong cooperatives that will be stronger going forward as one,” said LAC chairman, John Schultz.

Lakes Area Cooperative operates in Perham, Ottertail, Battle Lake, Vergas , Dent Menahga, Wolf Lake, Park Rapids, Wadena, Hackensack, Akeley, Clarissa and New Yorks Mills. Community Cooperative has locations in Lake Park, Detroit Lakes, Mahnomen Twin Valley, Flom, and Winger.
