Faith Hamm Advances To State 200 Free Finals; Brittney Lorentz To Dive For State Championship

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KDLM) – Faith Hamm of Detroit Lakes and Brittney Lorentz of Perham-New York Mills both advanced to the state Swim and Dive finals in their respective events on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hamm finished 15th in the 200 free prelims to advance to Friday’s finals (2:00.48). The top 16 swimmer advance to the finals.

Hamm placed 18th in the 500 free prelims and was named a second alternate for tomorrow’s finals. Hamm swam a 5:30.45 in the prelims.

The Laker 400-yard relay team of Hamm, Marin Westrum, Emily Peterson, and Rylie Wendt placed 23rd with a time of 3:53.44.

Taylor Ziemke of Perham-New York Mills finished 24th in the 50 free with a time of 25.70.

On the board, Brittney Lorentz placed fourth overall in Wednesday’s prelims with a 167.0. Avery McCallister also made the semifinals with a 19th-place finish and a score of 139.10. Hope Hamm of Detroit Lakes finished just outside the top-20 with a 22nd-place finish in the prelims with a score of 131.80. The Top 20 advance to the semifinals.

In the semis, Lorentz placed 7th (252.60) and McAllister was 19th (209.15). The Top-16 divers move on from the semis to the Finals. 

The Class A Swin and Dive Finals begin at noon on Friday.
