DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes City Council will have four new council members beginning in 2023.
Shaun Carlson ran unopposed in Ward 1, as did Michael Stearns in Ward 2.
In a surprise, incumbent Natalie Bly will lose her at Large seat on the Detroit Lakes City Council after both Jaimie Deraney and Jackie Buboltz picked up the two seats with narrow margins.
“I’m excited about the possibilities to be on the Detroit Lakes City Council,” Buboltz said, Tuesday night. Buboltz says she wants to continue to keep Detroit Lakes a vibrant and relevant community as she joins the council, “I want to look at how we can continue to be a community that’s vibrant, relevant, moving forward and growing.”
In Ward 3, Matt Boeke will retain his seat defeating Jay Wold with unofficial vote totals sitting at 643 votes to 402.
