Gunderson, Jones named to All-State Volleyball Team

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes senior Jalynn Gunderson and junior Ava Jones have been named to the 2022 AAA All-State Volleyball team.

The Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association All-State players are nominated by their respective coaches and selected by the panel of Section Representatives at the end of the regular season.

“It was super nice to be named to the All-State team,” said Jones. “It felt really good after all the hard work this team has put in. The team definitely helped me get there. I’m super grateful for all of them.”

“We had a lot of personal and team goals,” said Gunderson. “We wrote them down on a piece of paper. Being the top seed, making All-State…the only goal left on that piece of paper is making it to state.”

Gunderson recently committed to playing DI volleyball at the University of New Orleans. Jones, who recently set the school’s all-time assist record with 1,364 assists, is committed to UMD in the class of 2024.

Jones and Gunderson are the first All-State players for Detroit Lakes since Becca Shane in 2002.
