BAGLEY, MN (KDLM) – Watch out, St. Olaf. The Perham Yellowjackets cross-country teams are back.
The Perham Yellowjackets cross country teams turned in another dominating performance at the 8A section meet, advancing to the State Meet next weekend.
Make it 19 consecutive State Meet appearances for the Yellowjacket boys, who were led once again by section champion Bjorn Anderson. Anderson finished the race with a time of 18:18.10, 14 seconds ahead of Park Rapids’ Noah Huot. Micah Thompson finished third (16:41.5). Dylan Guck was the next Yellojacket runner to cross the finish line, finishing in 11th place with a time of 17:23.3.

Park Rapids was paced by Huot, Blaine Hensel, and Ephraim Bervig…all finishing in the top seven, The Panther finished section runner-up to advance to State for the second-straight year.
A trio of Lake Park-Audubon Raiders will also make the trip to St. Olaf this year with Taylor Johnson, Thor Erickson, and Seth Torgerson all qualifying for state as individual runners.
Individual qualifiers can make the State meet by finishing in the top eight runners not on the top-two teams.
The Perham girls team will make their 18th-straight State meet appearance, finishing second last season. Perham put all five of their scoring runners in the top nine and had all seven competitors finish in the top 14 on their way to a score of 26. The Hawley Nuggets took second place with 89 points and will head back to State for the third straight season.
Recent Gonzaga commit Jade Rypkema of Nevis won the section meet with a time of 18:07.4, finishing more than one minute faster than second-place finisher Anjalie Aho of United North Central. Gracie Morris, Ella Hendrickson, Quincy Anderson, and Mya Morris were the next four runners to finish.
The State Cross Country Meet will be held at St. Olaf College in Northfield on Saturday, November 5th. Perham, Park Rapids, and Hawley will run in the Class A State Meet. The girls will run at noon, the boys will begin at 1 pm.
