MAHNOMEN (KDLM) – A Mahnomen man who was on the run after a stabbing last week has now been charged with attempted murder.
The victim, who was stabbed in the back told officers he was stabbed by Elias Edward Thompson, Jr. at a home near Mahnomen. Four others who were at the home brought the victim to the emergency room and one of the witnesses corroborated the victim’s story.
Officers later recovered a knife that matched the description of the knife used in the stabbing. The victim of the stabbing was flown to a Fargo hospital with a punctured lung.
Thompson, Jr. is charged with first degree assault, second degree attempted murder, second degree assault, theft, and tampering with a witness after he sent a Snapchat to the victim while he was in the emergency room, asking him to change his statement made to the police.
