(KDLM/KRCQ) – North Dakota country duo Tigirlily, who have been touring under that name for the last ten years, announced an update to the band’s name yesterday.

Sisters Kendra and Krista Slaughbaugh made the announcement yesterday that the group’s name will be updated to Tigirlily Gold.

“We are adding to our name because there are so many different brands and artists with a similar name, so we wanted to make sure as we grow, people are able to find our music without any confusion,” the band said on their social media channels. “It’ll take some time getting used to, so y’all can still call us Tigirlily if you want, we are just changing the official name…but EVERYTHING else will be exactly the same. ”

The duo says they added “gold” to the end because it reminds them of home, sunrises, wheat fields, gravel roads, and strength among other things.

Kendra and Kristen have been writing music and performing together since 2016. The sisters moved from North Dakota to Nashville, Tennessee in 2017.  In Feb. 2021, the band went viral teasing a new song, “Somebody Does” on their socials. Upon its release, “Somebody Does” debuted at #1 on the iTunes all-genre charts, and has since been streamed over 4 million times. Shortly after this release, Tigirlily signed with Monument Records and secured publishing with SMACK Songs & Kobalt Music.

Tigirlily most recently played in Detroit Lakes for the Boys and Girls Club Polar Plunge at Polar Fest last February.
