Laker Cross Country Teams Each Place Fourth At MidState Meet

Long Prarie, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Lakers Cross Country teams both finished fourth in their respective races at the 2022 MidState Conference Meet in Long Prairie on Tuesday afternoon.

Julia Steffl paced the Laker girls with a ninth-place finish, crossing the finish line at 20:34.4. Sadie Johnson finished 13th overall with a time of 21:07. The Lakers finished with 99 total points. Staples-Motley won the conference title with a score of 28. Calia Cheney of Pequot Lakes won the race with a time of 18:03.7.

Brayden Francis was the first Laker boys runner to cross the finish line, finishing 13th overall with a time of 17:43. Micah Barberg placed 18th with a time of 18:53. The Lakers scored 104 as a team. Park Rapids won the meet with a 29. Eli Hall of Pequot Lakes won the race with a time of 15:41.9.

Next up for Detroit Lakes: the Section 8AA Meet at Arrowwood in Alexandria in Thursday, October, 27th.
