DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Lakes Area residents and vacationers will have the opportunity to learn about and even ride and drive an Electric Vehicle (EV) during the Lakes Area EV Event this Saturday.
The event, which will be held at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes is being hosted by regional public utilities including Detroit Lakes Public Utilities, Lake Region Electric Coop, Ottertail Power, and Wild Rice Electric. The Izaak Walton League of America – Prairie Woods Chapter and West Central Climate Action are also supporting the event.
Bridget Penton with Detroit Lakes Public Utilities says this event has been two years in the making and one of the highlights will be all the Electric Vehicles on display and available to test drive, “We will have over 10 local EV owners there, they will have their cars, they want people to sit in the cars and experience it. One of the highlights is the Ford F-150 Lightning – that’s extremely exciting to have at our event, where people can drive it.”
Paul Douglas: meteorologist, author, and entrepreneur, will be the Keynote Speaker for the event. He will begin his presentation at 11:00 a.m. inside First Lutheran Church.
The event runs from 10-2pm on Saturday.
