FALCON HEIGHTS, MN (KDLM/KPRW) – The Perham Yellowjackets cross country teams competed at the Roy Griak Invitational on the campus of the University of Minnesota on Friday afternoon, with the girls team taking second place overall in their race, and the boys placing third.
The Roy Griak Invite is one of the largest meets in the midwest with over 100 varsity teams competing in two races: the Maroon Race and the Gold Race.
The Perham girls finished in second place (146 points) in the Maroon race in the field of 51 schools, finishing only behind Brainerd (112). Freshman Gracie Morris finished in ninth place overall with a time of 20:06.2. Eighth-grader Ella Hendrickson was 29th (20:44.3), freshman Leelou Novotny was 31st (20:46.6), and Quincy Anderson finished 33rd (20:48.0).

Sophomore Bjorn Anderson, who won at the Dragon Twilight Invite and the Lucky Lindy earlier this month, finished second out of 488 runners in the Boys Maroon race with a time of 16:37, trailing only junior Nolan Sutter of Chaska (16:20.7). Senior Micah Thompson (17:37.3) and freshman Dylan Guck (17:41.1) finished in 24th and 25th place, respectively. Junior Caden Doll (18:01.1) was the fourth Perham runner to cross the finish line, recording a 41st place finish.
The Perham Boys finished third in the 52-team Maroon Race field behind Lee’s Summit West High School (Missouri) and Notre Dame (Wisconsin).
The Yellowjackets next meet is on Saturday, October 1st at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Willmar.
