New Ditterich Mercantile Fills Need for Grocery Store in Vergas

VERGAS (KDLM) – The city of Vergas once again has a grocery store in their community after going more than five years without one.

Ditterich Mercantile, located on the site of the former Goodman’s Supermarket plans to hold their grand opening celebration on Saturday.

“We’re going to include all the businesses in Vergas and everyone is going to have specials and events and drawings. We’ll also have live music, we want to bring people together,” said Duwayne Ditterich owner of Ditterich Mercantile.

The building and lot were purchased last year by the owners of Zitzow Electric and Franklin Fence. After demolition of the building a new multi-use building was constructed which includes a grocery store, full service salon and gym as well as several apartments.
