Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes named to Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals List

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes has been named to the Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals list, recognizing the facility as one of the top performing hospitals in the United States.

This is the first time Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes has received the honor, ranking 17th out of 819 in the “small community hospitals” category.

The Fortune/Merative list represents facilities that achieved better results than similarly sized hospitals on performance indicators intended to measure clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience and financial health. This year, the study evaluated 2,650 hospitals across the nation based on publicly available Medicare data.

“We are incredibly proud to have earned a spot on the 100 Top Hospitals list,” said Tanner Goodrich, senior vice president of operations for Essentia’s West Market. “This designation exemplifies our ongoing commitment to the communities we have the privilege to serve, and I am so grateful to our physicians, nurses and staff who have gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care.”

“This recognition is the result of our colleagues’ compassion, skill and professionalism,” said Dr. Andrew Moen, physician division chair at Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes. “I’m thankful for their dedication to our community, and proud to work alongside them as we fulfill our mission of making a healthy difference in people’s lives.”

According to the study, if all hospitals performed at the same high level as those comprising the 100 Top Hospitals list, 104,000 additional lives could be saved, 55,000 more patients could be complication-free and $12.5 billion could be saved on in-patient care.

This annual list is published by Fortune using data found by Merative, an analytics and technology partner for the health industry.
