Elbow Lake Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash near Vergas

VERGAS (KDLM/KBRF) – An Elbow Lake man was killed after crashing his motorcycle into a lake, Friday.

Around 10 a.m., Friday, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a motorcycle that had crashed into the water on Co Hwy 4 South West of Vergas, MN.

The caller witnessed a motorcycle traveling Eastbound on Co Hwy 4, drift over the centerline before entering the northern most ditch. The motorcycle then continued into “Lawrence Lake.” The reporting party then assisted in immediately removing the motorcyclist from the water before calling 911.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office along with Vergas Rescue and Pelican Ambulance responded to the scene. The party was provided life-saving efforts before being transported to a nearby Hospital by Pelican Ambulance.

The motorcycle operator was identified as 70-year-old George Hough from Elbow Lake MN. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital, and it is possible that the victim suffered a medical emergency prior to entering the ditch.

The incident is under investigation by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
