DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Minnesota DNR is collaborating with public libraries across the state including the Detroit Lakes Public Library to offer free seven-day Minnesota State Park Passes for checkout.
The program, which began in June provides a way for Minnesotans living in low-income communities across the state to visit state parks without the financial barrier of an entry fee.
“We have two passes available for every week, they’re first come first serve and can be reserved a week ahead of time,” said Lisa Trana with the Detroit Lakes Public Library.
The passes can be checked out at the library and don’t need to be returned. The program aims to make state park passes available to library patrons through June 2025.
