DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes School District has received a donation of more than $20,000
The Detroit Lakes Public Education Foundation presented the check during Monday’s School Board meeting totaling $20,350.
The Detroit Lakes Public Education Foundation began in 2007 by a group of Detroit Lakes residents who were concerned about the shortage of public school funding. Grants are awarded through an application process using an advisory council to review requests for grants to enhance educational opportunities for all ages within Detroit Lakes and to encourage creative and innovative educational programs.
The foundation has now granted over $170,000 to Detroit Lakes Public Schools since they began.
