PELICAN RAPIDS, Minn. (KFGO) – A Pelican Rapids man drowned over the weekend in South Lake Lida.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old Eric Fife was boating with friends.
He jumped from the boat while trying to retrieve his dog. His friends quickly determined that Fife was in trouble and struggling to stay above water. A friend pulled both Fife and his dog back to the boat and CPR was done until first responders arrived at a public access and took over. Fife died at the scene.
It happened shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.
