New Veteran’s Memorial Park in Vergas to be Dedicated Saturday

VERGAS (KDLM) – The new Veteran’s Memorial Park in Vergas will be dedicated this Saturday.

The memorial which had been planned for a number of years has been built next to the Vergas ballfield and include two, 25 foot circles, one featuring flags of every branch of the U.S. military and another that will feature 8 granite pillars with veterans’ names engraved, one of those pillars will be dedicated to those lost in combat.

Nearly 200 names have already been engraved, Lyle Krieg a committee member who helped develop the park says it’s a great addition to the community, “It’s a great addition to the city of Vergas and it looks great.”

Food will be offered by the Ditterich Family Farm for a free will offering on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. with the dedication beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a raffle drawing and silent auction at 1:30 p.m.
