Woman, Baby Shot at Fargo Restaurant, Suspect Dies of Self-Inflicted Bullet Wound Near Hawley

FARGO (KFGO) – A woman and an 8-month-old are hospitalized after a shooting at a south Fargo restaurant Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting took place inside and outside Plaza Azteca at 5505 28th Ave. S shortly after 1:30.

The condition of the 23-year-old woman is critical but stable according to Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski. The baby is in stable condition. The investigation extended to Sheyenne High School in West Fargo where about 300 people attending a track meet were evacuated to the gymnasium. It was quickly learned that the shooting suspect was not in the school.

A pursuit then began with a stolen vehicle that went into Clay County where the suspect was located in a vehicle near Hawley. Deputies from Clay and Becker Counties and Red River Valley Swat responded to that scene.

The suspect, 24-year-old Malik Lamar Gill, was found to be deceased within the vehicle.
