May 18, 2022 | 11:22 AM

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Mark Holm, the Head Golf Professional at Detroit Country Club has announced he will retire this fall.

In a statement he said, “After 30 wonderful years at Detroit Country Club, and after careful consideration, I have decided that 2022 will be my last year as the Head Golf Professional at the Detroit Country Club. I want to thank each and every one of you for being part of my time at DCC. In looking back, I have many wonderful memories and have made many great friends during my time here.”

Holm says he’s looking forward to spending more time in warmer weather and with his family and grandchildren.

Holm’s retirement isn’t entirely unexpected, in late 2021 Detroit Country club began looking at bringing in an outside management company to run the course indicating that one of the benefits would be to help find a professional-level replacement for Holm should he look to step away.

Plans to hire an outside management company were scrapped after receiving an outpouring of feedback from the community.
