Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Lakers welcomed Crosby-Ironton to Snappy Park for a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, and after a sloppy first game, the Lakers recovered to shut out C-I in Game Two.
The Lakers lost 22-2 in the first game after surrendering 11 runs in the first inning. The Lakers had eight defensive errors, two wild pitches, and two passed balls in the game.
“About 15 of the runs we gave up were unearned,” head coach Sydney Prussia said after the game.
The two Laker runs in Game One came on a two-run Rachel Kasowski home run in the third inning. Kasowski was 2-2 in the game with two RBI. Siri Vogle was also 2-2 and scored on Kasowski’s homer after ripping a double to right-center field.
Game Two was a completely different story as the Lakers won 15-0. The Laker defense only committed two errors and got timely hitting from the middle of their lineup. Ella Okeson led off the second inning with a solo home run…her third in her last four games. Okeson had 3 RBI in Game Two. Lead-off hitter Emma Coley reached base three times, scored three times, and knocked in two, and Sidney Borgmann walked twice and scored two runs. Borgmann started in the circle in Game Two and only allowed two hits over four innings and struck out two Rangers along the way.
With the split, the Lakers are now 4-4 on the season. The Lakers will play their first road game of the season next Tuesday at Aitkin.
