Laker Girls Track and Field Wins Craig Fredrickson Memorial Invite

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Laker Girls track and field team won their first home meet of the season at Mollberg Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Lakers won the six-team Craig Fredrickson Memorial Invite with a team score of 155. Frazee finished second with a score of 116.5.

The Lakers took home six first-place finishes on Thursday: Julia Steffl won the 1600m with a time of 5:48.32, Annie Paulson won the 300m Hurdles (48.32), the 4×100 team of Ella Paulson, Jerzie Horner, Haydon King, and Abby Larson won by four seconds with a time of 51.89, Horner won the Pole Vault with a vault of 9-feet, Brenna Skadsem won the shot put with a throw of 33-feet, 10 inches, and Jacee Hauser won the Discus with a throw of 105-feet, one inch.

Rylee Johnson (17.13) finished second in the 100m hurdles, Grace Gunderson was second in the High Jump (five feet-two inches), Lily Anderson was second in the Triple Jump (33 feet-5.5 inches), Mallory Fischer was second in the Long Jump (15-feet, 3.5 inches), Jacee Hauser was second in the Shot Put (32 feet-eight inches), and Elle Bettcher was second in the Discus (100-feet, 10 inches).

Ella Paulson was third in the 200m (27.75), Mallory Fischer finished fifth (28.57), Haydon King was ninth (28.93), and Jerzie Horner was tenth (28.95).

In the 800m, Sasha Sekundiak (2:34.77), Helena Daggett (2:36.28), and Sadie Johnson (2:39.24) finished third, fourth, and fifth. Lila Kallstrom (2:53.07) placed eighth and Ava Jones (2:54.24) finished ninth.

Lily Baethke placed sixth in the 1600m, (6:17.91), Alex Bettcher finished sixth in the 400m (1:17.76), Hailey Thielen finished eighth in the 100m (13.68), Lily Anderson placed ninth in the 100m (20.27) and eighth in the High Jump (4-08.00), Rylee Johnson finished fifth in the High Jump (5-00.00) and Sadie Johnson finished tied for tenth with a jump of four feet-six inches.

Jordan Ehnert and Skylar Nelson finished tied for fourth (8-00.00) in the pole vault, Sasha Sekundiak placed fourth (32-09.50), Annie Paulson placed sixth (31.05.50) and Helena Daggett placed tenth (31-00.00) in the Triple Jump.

In the Shot Put, the Lakers took fifth (Elle Bettcher, 29-11.00), sixth (Fallon Lowell, 28-04.00), seventh (Madi Gerdes, 27-11.00), and eighth (Jadyn Wimmer, 27-09.00). Lowell also placed fourth in the Discus (88-05), Brenna Skadsem finished fifth (87-00), Madi Gerdes was eighth (79-11), and Jenna Huwe was ninth (75-02).

The Lakers next meet will be the True Team Meet in Fergus Falls next Tuesday.
