Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Laker pitchers walked nine Bemidji Lumberjacks and committed six errors on defense in an 18-0 loss at Snappy Park on Thursday afternoon.
Bemidji drew four walks and scored four runs without recording a hit in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. They scored six runs in the second, taking advantage of four Laker errors in the infield. In the third, Bemidji scored six runs with two outs to take a 16-0 lead. First baseman Katrina Malterud hit a two-run home run in the fourth to add two more runs.
Laker catcher Rachel Kasowski was 2-2 in the game and was the only Laker to record a hit off of Lumberjack pitcher Mariah Graves, who struck out three Lakers in four innings. Kasowski also made a great play at the plate to save a run in the second inning.
The Lakers fall to 0-2 on the season and will host a double-header against Little Falls at Snappy Park tomorrow.
Bemidji evens their record at 2-2. They’ll play at Virginia tomorrow.
