DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Leighton Broadcasting stations KDLM, 102.3 KRCQ and WAVE 104.1 raised $35,026 during their annual Lakes Area St. Jude Radiothon.

The funds raised are used to help end childhood cancer; families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.

A big part of the record breaking total came from employees at BTD, who donated more than $13,000, Friday. BTD began donating to the Radiothon in 2013 and every year its been building says Matt Maneval of BTD, “Without the employees of BTD I wouldn’t be here and then BTD graciously matching up to $5,000.” Employees, with the company match were able to donate $13,020 to the cause this year.

Leighton Broadcasting stations have been raising funds for St. Jude annually since 2011 totaling more than $350,000.
