BECKER, MN (KDLM) – After four weather-related postponements to start the season the Detroit Lakes Lakers Boys golf team finally got their first meet of the season in on Thursday, finishing tied for seventh at the Becker Bulldog Invitational at Pebble Creek Golf Course.
Junior Logan Schons shot an 83 (39/44) on the Par 72 (36/36) course to pace the Lakers. Sophomore Nick Tobkin shot an 85 (39/45). Junior Ben Hines (42/44) and senior Jack Syltie (43/43) each carded 86’s, sophomore Noah Meyer shot a 90 (44/46) and freshman Tommy Suckert shot a 93 (50/43).
The Laker’s overall score of 339 tied them with Delano for seventh place in the 20-team invite. West Fargo won the meet with a 317, ten strokes ahead of Waconia and New London-Spicer, who tied for second with a 327. New London-Spicer senior Peyton Coahran won medalist honors, shooting a -2 70 for the afternoon (33/37).
The Lakers’ home meet at Lakeview Golf Course next Monday has been canceled. Their next meet on the schedule is at Minnewaska Country Club next Wednesday, April 27th.
