FERGUS FALLS, MN (KDLM) – The Laker Track and Field teams competed in their first outdoor meet of the season at the Fergus Falls Otter Invite on Monday, with the girls team placing second and the boys finishing sixth.
Junior Abby Larson won both the 100m (12.57) and 200m (27.86), and was part of the 4×100 relay team with Jerzie Horner, Rylee Johnson and Ella Paulson that also took first (53.91). Horner finished third in the 100m (13.57), and Mallory Fischer finished third in the 200m (29.28). Annie Paulson finished third in the 300m hurdles (52.37). Paulson, along with Brooklyn Markuson, Ella Paulson, and Morgan Hausten took second in the 4×200 (1:56:.23).
In the girls field events, Jacee Hauser took third in the shot put (31′ 1), and Brenna Skadsem took fourth (29′ 10). Hauser also took second in the discus (99′ 7), with Elle Bettcher taking third (97′ 8). Grace Gunderson placed second in the high jump (5′ 2), Jerzie Horner placed fourth in the pole vault (8′ 6). The Laker girls placed second at the seven-team meet with a score of 107. Willmar won the meet with a 139. Bemidji finished in third place.
On the boys side, Ethan Carrier took second in the 100m (11.35), Jack Pace took second in the 400 (58.08), and Alexander Fletcher took second in the 110m hurdles (16.61). The boys team took sixth place in the seven-team meet with a score of 46. The Willmar won the meet with a 146. Fergus Falls was second, and Perham was third.
The Lakers’ next meet is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 19th at the Ed Babock Invitational at ROCORI High School, where they’ll compete against St. Cloud Apollo, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, Willmar, Fergus Falls, and ROCORI.
