DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The National Weather Service says a long duration winter event will impact the Lakes Area this week.
The impacts will vary across the area, but will likely start Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night and continue through early Friday. An excess of 8 inches of snow is possible, however the amount of snow will depend on surface temperature, low pressure location and several other factors. Forecasters say some areas may be hit with more rain, while other areas may get the heavier snowfall.
Travel will likely be extremely difficult or impossible across parts of northwestern Minnesota with some affected areas seeing up to three feet of snow.
