(KDLM) – A cold, wet, miserable-for-baseball weather forecast reportedly has the Minnesota Twins planning a contingency plan for the season opener at Target Field on Thursday afternoon.
The Twins will wrap up the spring training schedule tomorrow afternoon in sunny Fort Myers before breaking camp and traveling to Minneapolis tomorrow. The Twins are scheduled to open the season against Seattle on Thursday with a forecasted rain/snow mix and a high of 41 degrees.
LaVelle E. Neal was the first to present the idea that the much-anticipated game could be delayed due to weather:
Yes, the Twins are CONSIDERING the POSSIBILITY of pushing Opening Day back to Friday because of projected cold and wet conditions on Thursday. NOTHING IS OFFICIAL yet, but I would prepare contingency plans if I were you.

Dustin Morse, the Twins VP of Communications told Bring Me The News that they are watching the weather closely. “Any decision to shift the Opener to Friday will be made a minimum of 24 hours prior to Thursday’s scheduled game time,” said Morse.
The Twins and Mariners have a scheduled off-day on Friday. The temperature won’t be much better (high of 43 degrees), but there is only a 4% chance of afternoon precipitation that day.
