Several Area Manufacturing Plants Honored by EPA

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Several area manufacturing plants have been honored by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Plants in Park Rapids and Fergus Falls were among the plants that have earned the agency’s Energy Star certification.

Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen in Park Rapids a frozen fried potato processing plant and Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc. of Fergus Falls a commercial bread and roll baking plant have been verified to be among the most energy-efficient plants within their industries.

“As these companies demonstrate, improving energy efficiency serves to confront climate change while strengthening our economy,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “Manufacturing plants that reduce energy consumption as part of the transition to a zero-emissions future save money and create the resiliency needed for the long-term health of their operations, our economy, and our planet.”
