State Wrestling Tournament Sees Lakes Area Wrestlers Compete for Titles

ST. PAUL (KDLM) – In the Class A 5th place matchup, the #8 ranked United North Central Warriors, finished the season with a loss to #4 ranked Kimball Area 41-24 .

After a loss by Torrey Carlson at 220, the HWT contest, did not matter as Marcus Peterson took a tough 5-3 loss. After a win by Eion Ness at 160, the Warriors we’re up 24-18, but UNC ended up losing the last 5 matches.

UNC will finish in 6th place at the 2022 State Wrestling Tournament. Congratulations on a great season.

 

In a HWT, winner take all matchup, the West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville Knights, got the win with Junior Justin Blascyk getting a 5-2 victory for a 35-31…3rd place win in Class A over #6 ranked Dover-Eyota Eagles. At 220, Colton Lindquist had given WCA a 32-31 lead, making the HWT a winner take all. Congratulations to the Knights on 3rd place finish.

In a back and forth matchup, the Warriors of United North Central came from behind to win 34-30 and will wrestle Kimball Area for a 5th place finish. In their matchup will BBE, Torrey Carlson won his 220 matchup 5-2 and that made the HWT matchup between UNC’s Marcus Peterson vs and BBE’s Bryce Feuerhake a winner take all. There was an injury to Feuerhake and he had to injury default out and the Warriors get the victory. UNC v Kimball Area at 5pm.
