DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Blizzard like conditions will continue throughout the Lakes Area into Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says a Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect until 12 p.m., Tuesday. Heavy snow is expected with total accumulations of 5 to 11 inches, possibly higher in some areas.
Travel is not recommended as blowing and drifting snow will reduce visibility. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Law enforcement is reminding those traveling to also turn their headlights on and be mindful of snow dust that is kicked up when passing vehicles.
In Detroit Lakes a Snow Emergency event has been issued. This will be in effect TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22 from 12:01am through 12:00 pm. During this time, there shall be no parking on any City Street until the street has been completely cleared.
