Whitworth Places Sixth, McAllister Ninth In State Individual All-Around

ST. PAUL, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes junior Gabby Whitworth finished in sixth place in the Class A Individual State Gymnastics all-around competition on Saturday.

Whitworth scored a 37.262 on Friday. Whitworth’s average score on the vault was 9.750, 8.725 on the bars, 9.225 on the beam, and 9.550 on the floor.

Junior Reagan Kelley of Watertown-Mayer/Mound-Westonka, whose team won the Team portion of the meet yesterday, won the individual overall championship with a score of 38.42.

Perham sophomore Avery McAllister finished ninth in the all-around with a score of 36.7250 (9.77 vault, 9.37 beam, 9.22 bars, 9.22 floor).McAllister’s score placed her 17th overall on the floor, fourth on the beam, 18th on the bars, and second in the vault.

Sophomore Brittney Lorentz only competed in the beam (8.95) after being scratched with a foot injury.

Whitworth’s 9.550 on the floor exercise placed her third overall in the event and was third in the vault. She also placed 10th overall on the balance beam and 23rd on the uneven bars.

Detroit Lakes junior Jerzie Horner placed 11th individually on the balance beam with a 9.175, 20th on the bars with a 9.300, 43rd on the bars with an 8.175.

Laker sophomore Elsie Ratz competed individually in the vault, finishing in 16th place overall with a 9.375.
