Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The last time the Detroit Lakes Lakers boys basketball team played Pequot Lakes, they hit 15 three-point shots en route to a 76-68 road win.
This time, the Patriots were ready to counter the long-range game of the Lakers.
Pequot Lakes made 14 three-pointers, eight of them by junior guard Eli Laposky, on their way to a 78-48 win over the Lakers at the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse last night.
“You’ve got to give them credit,” said head coach Brett Maas after the game. “They came out ready to play, and I feel like maybe we weren’t. They outworked us in the paint…they wanted the ball more. We’re gonna learn from this…but we can’t dwell on it because we’ve got another game coming up on Friday.”
The Lakers fall to 7-11 on the season and are now 5-1 in the MidState conference with the loss. Pequot Lakes improves to 15-4 and into a tie with the Laker for the conference lead at 5-1. The Lakers play in Staples-Motley on Friday.
