Madi and Lexi Gerdes Sign With U of M-Morris for Swimming, Track and Field

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes High School seniors Madison and Alexis Gerdes have signed their letter of intent to compete in both swim and track and field (shot put, javelin, discus) at the University of Minnesota-Morris.

Madi and Lexi are stand-out athletes for Detroit Lakes, competing in Swim and Dive, are members of the ski team, and the Track and Field team.

The record-setting duo of the Laker swim team finished in first and second-place finishes in Section 8A championships in the 100-meter breaststroke. The two were also a part of the Laker 200-yard medley relay team that competed at the 2021 state meet. Madi also competed in the state 200-yard IM, and Lexi competed in the 100-yard butterfly after winning the Section 8A race.

The two plan to pursue degrees in Physical Therapy.
