Youth Snowmobile Racing Returning to Perham

PERHAM (KDLM) – Youth Snowmobile racing will return to Perham.

Two Eighty Six Sno Series, a youth snowmobile racing circuit will conduct snowmobile races for youth 17 and under at the Pioneer Grounds in Perham on Saturday Feb. 12 and Sunday, Feb. 13.

Sandi Blessum who helped create the snowmobile circuit that produces the races throughout the region says the idea for youth snowmobile races came from having a hard time finding events for her own children to compete in, “About five years ago we saw a decline in the sport and our daughters were getting into racing and we couldn’t find a good fit for them as beginners – so we started our own circuit and we took off running with it.”

Last year’s event in Perham saw more than 1300 spectators watch youth of all ages race at the Pioneer Grounds. This year, organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout.

The entry fee for riders $40.00 per day and $20 for additional race classes entered each day.

Spectators are encouraged to attend with a $5 gate admission, concessions from Beach Bums onsite, bonfire pits and Minnesota True North selling racing gear.

The circuit also has races scheduled in Fertile and Ada.
