Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes activities director Rob Nielson has been selected as the Section 8AA Activities Director of the Year.
Nielsen was hired as Activities Director in the spring of 2017, and has worked in Detroit Lakes since 1990. During his time at DLHS, he has also coached football, served as president of the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association.
During Nielsen’s tenure, DL Public School has installed a new video/scoreboard at Mollberg Field that has been utilized for football, track and field, and graduation ceremonies, and has transitioned from the Ralph Anderson Gymnasium to the new Lakeshirts Fieldhouse.

Nielsen was also nominated for the state-wide Activities Director of the Year. The winner will be announced in March.
